Wow. Has it really been since May that I last posted? I'm sorry.

One of my New Year's resolutions is to blog again. But not necessarily in the manner that I blogged before. I want to use my blog as more of a journaling spot. A place where I don't care what I say or who I offend.

Me and My Boys - September 2011

On that note I am naming this year New Year, New Me!

This year's goals:

Lose weight. My first goal is to lose 30lbs by April. My starting weight is 190lbs. Ugh. Such an ugly number. This is exactly where I was LAST new years. I was down almost 20 lbs by last April and threw it all in the garbage. Ugh again. Oh well. You live and learn right?

More family time. I feel like we are always in a hurry and running here and there. I want to take more time to spend as a family. Doing family activities. I would love for this to include a family vacation.

Focus on my business more. Set little mini-goals for myself each month.

I'd like to end this post with photos of my boys. They have grown so much this last year. I can not believe how quickly time is flying by. They will be four soon. And we have finally gotten rid of diapers! Woo Hoo!!!

Outside my window..blue skies, sun, and estimated highs in the 70's today!!!

Today I feel..excited. I got a big order in the mail yesterday, another one to be delivered today.

I am thinking..about all the things I have on my plate.

I am thankful..that God has allowed me to live another day.

Tomorrow I am..working and playing with the fellas. I need to go out and buy a birthday present and a graduation present too.

I am wearing..new gray pants and a new pink shirt, and new black wedge sandals. So so cute. It's amazing what new clothes do for my attitude. I feel great!

I wish..I could just blink and my projects would be done.

This weekend I..must start painting the ceiling and walls in my kitchen. I'm going to take the boys to an event in the town I work in. They are bringing a bunch of vehicles and equipment in for the kids to explore. We also have a birthday and a graduation party to go to.

I need to..clean and organize the boys' toy room. {Same as last week...never touched it.}

I am reading..The Pioneer Woman's, Black Heals to Tractor Wheel. Well I shouldn't say I'm reading it. I have it, but haven't cracked it open yet.

Yesterday I...did a friends' nails and played with the fellas.

I am hoping..for a stress free weekend!!!!

Outside my window..finally! The sun is shining! What a difference the sunshine makes on my energy level and mood.

Today I feel..energized and renewed!!!

I am thinking..about Scentsy. These last few days it has been on my mind all the time. I am so excited to be starting this new chapter in my life.

I am thankful..for wonderful friends, and the opportunities that have come my way.

Tomorrow I am..working, playing with the kiddos, and playing with all of my new Scentsy stuff.

I am wearing..gray dress pants, a really cute pink shirt I just got from Old Navy, and peep-toe heals.

I wish..I had a few extra hours the next few days to get all of my stuff organized.

This weekend I..hope to get some more yard work done. I have my niece Saturday morning which I love. Her and the boys have such a great time together.

I need to..clean and organize the boys' toy room. It is getting out of control and I can't stand it.

I am reading..nothing...yet. I have to run down to the library and grab The Pioneer Woman's, Black Heals to Tractor Wheels that I had on hold and is ready for me. I can't wait to read it!

Yesterday I..worked and hung out with the kiddos. I normally clean on Wednesday nights, but the crappy weather has had me so unmotivated. I did make a yummy dinner; Ramen Noodle Stir-Fry. It was yummy and the boys scarfed it down.

I am hoping..for succes.

1. What is your favorite kind of muffin?

Mmm. Blueberry for sure. But it has to be the kind that has the large chunks of sugar on top. Oh and warmed up with {REAL} butter slathered on it. I'm salivating just thinking about it.

2. What was the first car you ever owned?
I had a 1991 Dodge Daytona. I loved loved loved that car. It was even a standard of which I had no clue how to drive...but I didn't care...I was determined to learn {which I did}because I loved it so much. I used to shove many more people than were allowed in the car. Man...good times!

3. Which TV Show were you sad to see end?

Friends. Oh how I loved that show. My BFF and I would get together every Thursday night, order a pizza, drink some beers, and watched that week's episode. {Oh, and I so had the Jennifer Aniston hair-do}

4. What is your lucky number?
I don't have one.

5. Pretzels or Potato Chips?

Potato Chips. Preferably folded plain Lay's. I'm not really a salt person though. I would much rather have cookies over chips.

Outside my window..it's cloudy with the sunshine peeking through every once in a while. And it's really warm and windy.

Today I feel..good.

I am thinking..about a lot of things:

I am slowly adding my weight back on due to my lack of self control and I am not happy about it.
My new venture....just a little while longer and I'll be able to announce the news to you. :-)
My BFF Barb. I miss her so much. I wish we lived closer. I just KNOW that we would be with each other all of the time watching our kids play. I know that we would be so supportive of each other when it comes to daily life and the kids. I have my sister here, and she truly is wonderful, but I feel like she gets ALL of the burden of my venting and such. I need to share some of it with another person or else my sister is going to get burned out and not want to be my friend anymore {grin}.

I am thankful..for my sister. Without her I really don't know where I'd be. She is my rock, my best friend.

Tomorrow I am..working {of course}and then I have a retirement party to go to. I'm looking forward to that. Some drinks and adult time...woo hoo!!!

I am wearing..gray dress pants, and a purple top {with short sleeves because it's actually warm}.

I wish..I could hire someone to do our spring clean-up outside. We lost a tree so that needs to be cut up and cleaned up. Also, because of the tornado-like winds we had, the boys beautiful play set was blown over and it's mangled in several places so that needs to be cleaned up and repaired. Not to mention the regular yearly stuff, tree limbs, leaves, flower beds. It's all so overwhelming.

This weekend I..hope to get some yard work done. The yard is a muddy mess, but I will throw some boots on the boys, let them get dirty, and start to clean up everything from the fall and winter.

I need to..order a load of mulch to be delivered. This will be the first time I've done that, but I honestly do not have the time to go anywhere, pick up gazillions of bags of mulch, load them up, unload them, and then carry them all over the yard. At this point, I don't care how much it will cost.

I am reading..nothing, but I do have two books reserved at the library.

Yesterday I..worked and then finally got some cleaning done at home. I am so thankful the boys were busy playing with each other that they didn't care what I was up to.

I am hoping..for a beautiful weekend. We really really need a break from all of the rain.

I bought a new coffee maker yesterday and WOW the coffee tastes fabulous. So glad the other one bit the dust.
I still need to upload and edit the boys' 3rd birthday festivities.
Which means I still owe ya'll a birthday post.
Heck, I still owe you a Christmas post {ha!}
I am a slacker, you probably know that by now.
It's not like I'm busy or anything {grin}
I am getting more and more excited to announce to you my newest venture, or should I say ADventure.
But you have to wait about another week.
You know how I bought those Zumba DVD's and how excited I was to do them? Well, I've done ONE of the DVD's only TWO times.
Have I told you how much of a slacker I am?
I have been off the dieting bandwagon since mine and they boy's birthday.
I am very disappointed with myself.
I was doing SO good.
I'll get back on track. I know I will. I HAVE to.
There is someone in my life that has had a very negative attidude lately.
Or should I say I think they've had it for several years now.
But it's just starting to get to me.
I have no idea what I should do to help them turn themselves around.
But something must be done.
I am a VERY glass is half full kid of girl and can not be brought down with someone else's glass is half empty attitude.
My living room project is DONE.
I am so excited to share it with you.
The only thing left is new furniture.
Which we are not purchasing until the animals are gone.
Which will be sooner rather than later.
Our dog has a GIANT tumor on his back.
He's had diarrhea on our carpet twice this past month.
He has NEVER had accidents like that before.
I will be upset when he's gone.
But so glad to not have to smell old man dog smell and clean up his constant slobber from the floors, walls, and sometimes ceiling.
Next project is the kitchen.
Painting the ceiling and walls.
Installing new trim in the whole room.
Eventually new floors {we have the original still...33 years old}, countertops, and if I can convice the hubs...new glass block backsplash {evil grin}.
New accessories as well. I've already been bookmarking many blogs with fabulous decor ideas.
It's 8:36am and my husband and the kids are still sleeping.
I love my quiet mornings to myself.
I just looked up into the living room and realized the project isn't over yet.
I have a new painting to hang.
I'll get right on that and share with you soon.
Like maybe in a few months.
Have I told you I'm a slacker?

Outside my window..hmm, I'm not quite sure. I know it's a bit chilly. I was thinking about some things on my way to work, so much so that I didn't even pay attention to what the weather is doing.
*Oh wait, hubby just texted me to tell me it's snowing. Seriously disgusting!!!*

Today I feel..content, hopeful, excited, nervous.

I am thinking..about a new venture. Something I chatted with a friend about last night. ;-) I am super excited and can not wait to reveal it to y'all!!!
I'm also thinking about the boys' play set and how sweet mother nature decided to topple it over yesterday. I am wondering how it is going to be fixed. It's not even a year old and was very expensive. Hubby put a lot of time and energy {and love} into it.

I am thankful..for the friends I have made these last few years.

Tomorrow I am..off of work. Hubby has to work during the day and then we are going to go out to dinner as a family. Then I'd like to take the boys to the mall to ride the merry-go-round...their new favorite activity.

I am wearing..black dress pants and my favorite black and cream large polka dot shirt.

I wish..winter would go away. I am ready for and need sunshine and warmth!!!

This weekend I..have nothing major planned. We are going to my parent's for Easter dinner. I'm really looking forward to Easter and hiding eggs and watching the boys excitement Sunday morning.

I need to..get cracking on the painting in the kitchen. And share pictures of my living room face-lift!

Yesterday I..worked and the boys, my fairy godmother and I went to Kohls for some summer clothes {for the boys, not me...boo}

1. Caesar Salad or Garden Salad?
Caesar salad for sure with full fatty dressing...oh.my.yum. I actually would take any kind of salad if someone else makes it. Salads always taste so much better when someone else prepares them.
2. Will you be watching the Royal Wedding on April 29th?
Yes! I can't wait!!! I wish I could BE there. As in BE one of the royal attendees. I wouldn't want to be some servant or anything. Can you imagine marrying into royalty? Wow.
3. Last thing you spent lots of money on?
A new car!!! We traded in my dream car for a new Toyota Prius. The gas savings alone has been totally worth it. :-)
4. Window seat or aisle seat?
Window. I love to look out and see everything, but I also like to use the side of the plane to rest my head against. LOL
5. Do you know your blood type?
I have no idea. That's bad isn't it?

Five Question Friday

1. Have you ever had surgery?

Nope. Not unless you count the removal of four impacted wisdom teeth :-) Oh wait - I delivered my children in an operating room...nah...still doesn't count does it?

2. Ever ride in an ambulance?

Yup. Three years ago April 2. I was pregnant with the twins and my water broke. The hospital I was intended to deliver at was unable to deliver babies at such an early gestation so they transported me to another much more qualified hospital {thank heavens}. That was my first {and hopefully last} ambulance ride. I remember telling them it was my first time, and that I wanted to hear the sirens. We joked the whole way to the hospital.

3. How are you in a medical emergency? Panicked? Calm?

I would have to say unusually calm. This surprises me. {On the inside however, I am freaking the freak out.}

4. Do you have a garden? Flowers or veggies?

Yes, flowers and I hope to have veggies this year. I had a patio tomato last summer....does that count as a veggie garden? :-)

5. When did you move out of your parents house?

When I was 20. I moved into an apartment all by myself. I LOVED that apartment and I really enjoyed living by myself. A few years later I moved into my husband's house...we weren't married yet...the horror!

Outside my window..it's snowing. Makes me want to cuss at Mother Nature. Just.Not.Right.

Today I feel..overwhelmed.

I am thinking..and remembering where we were three years ago today. Three years ago I was home on bed rest. I had no idea that in just a few short days I would be meeting two little people that would change me forever.

I am thankful..for the last three years, and that my children are happy, healthy, thriving, energetic, loving, smart, and handsome little boys.

Tomorrow I am going..to work and then work on some home projects and birthday party projects.

I am wearing..taupe dress pants {that did NOT fit a few weeks ago but do now...loosely} and a green shirt.

I wish..I didn't gain .5 pounds this week. It's not a surprise. I have no one to blame but myself.

This weekend I..will be celebrating Marcus & Maddox's {third} birthday.

I need to..finish up my gallery wall. I can not wait to see the finished product!

I am reading..nothing.

Yesterday I..worked, took the boys out to dinner {by myself - a first and they were so good} and then for haircuts. They got haircuts, I got my roots retouched and my brows and stache waxed.

I am hoping..for a non-stressful weekend.

I bet you didn't know..that I am a procrastinator. I wait until the last minute to do just about everything. It's stressful, but I work well under pressure.

1. Crunchy or soft tacos?
Soft for sure. There is nothing worse than biting into a crunchy tortilla only to be stabbed in the gums.
2. Do you scrapbook?
No, I'd love to though. I once bought all of the supplies years {11} ago to make scrapbooks for my BFF and I for a Florida trip we took. The photos, souvenirs, scrapbooks, scrapbook papers and embelishments remain in the bag they were purchased in, in a cabinet in my home. This bag was also moved from my old house to my current house. Nothing like wasting a ton of money.
3. Do you take any daily medications?
Yes. I take a multivitamin, vitamin C, liquid B, D, and a happy pill. I used to take a birth control pill every day but have since gotten an IUD. The jury is still out on the IUD. Ask me again in another month if I like it.
4. What is your favorite sound?
The laughter of my children of course. But also the sounds of summer. Waking to birds chirping, mid-day lawn mowing and the evening sounds of bull frogs and crickets in my back yard.
5. Where were you born?
Jacksonville, Florida. {I believe this is why the word y'all is forever in my vocabulary.}

Outside my window..the sun is shining. It's a bit chilly...but it's a hell of a lot better than the shit {snow storm} we had yesterday.

Today I feel..tired. I had crazy dreams last night, and when I dream I am always tired. I had a horrible dream about my husband dying...I woke up and had to feel next to me to make sure he was there.

I am thinking..about how full I am from my yummy lunch of cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus, and homemade tomato florentine soup...and now I need something sweet.

I am thankful..that it was only a dream. I couldn't imagine life without him. I felt the pain in my dream and that was enough.

Tomorrow I am going..to work and then go to Yankee Candle for their $1 tart and votive sale.

I am wearing..black paints and a black, white, and red top.

I wish..I didn't eat three cookies from Subway yesterday that totaled 630 calories. That is more than what I have for dinner. {They were tasty though.}

This weekend I..am planning on creating my gallery wall in my living room. I have so many creative ideas in my head..I just hope I can express them. Also on Sunday we are going to brunch to celebrate the marriage of my sister-in-law and her new husband. They got married in Vegas last year.

I need to start..exercising. I'm {impatiently} waiting for my Zumba Fitness DVD's to arrive. I can't wait to get my Zumba on!

1. What jewelry do you wear 24/7?
24/7? That would mean jewelry I never take out/off right? Then that would be my princess cut diamond studs hubby bought me for Valentine's Day a million years ago {before we were married} and also my nose piercing. It hurts like a mother to take in and out so I avoid that as much as possible. Other than that, I do wear my wedding rings, right hand ring, earrings and various other jewelry every day that goes on after hair and make-up and comes off right before bed. I never ever not wear my jewels :-)
2. Do you twirl your spaghetti or cut it?

3. How many siblings do you have?
One, my older sister Jessica. I say older because she is three years older....but she LOOKS three years younger than me.
4. Were you named after anyone?
Noper. My dad was overseas when my mom gave birth to me. She named me Erin Morgan Goldylocks. When my dad got the message on the ship...he couldn't figure out for the life of him where that name came from.
5. Coke or Pepsi?
For diet I prefer Coke, for regular {which I haven't had a regular soda in YEARS} I prefer Pepsi.

1. Have you ever testified in court? For what?

No, thank God. I would be terrified. Funny thing is, I work for the courts, but I'm on the correct side of the bench sitting next to the judge. Lets hope it stays that way. :-)

2. Do you still have your wedding dress?

Yup. It's hanging in the spare room closet, not even cleaned or preserved. She still has missing buttons and red sauce on her. I had hopes of having a girl that would want to wear it some day. But obviously I didn't have a girl, and I doubt if I did that she would want to wear it anyway. Then I thought, I'll have the material made into Baptismal gowns for the boys, well, we never had them baptized. Something that I still feel horrible guilty about.

3. Is there a special place you like to go when you're happy, sad, stressed, etc.?

Yes, the refrigerator.

4. If you have kids, do they sleep with you? If you don't have kids...will you let your kids sleep with you when/if you have them?

No way! This is one thing I was always against. Now, I have had them sleep with me once or twice when they were sick, but only because I didn't want them waking up the other.

5. Do you watch late night TV?

Ha! What is late night TV? I don't make it past 11. The hubs and I went out last Saturday and STILL didn't make it that late. Man I'm old.

Outside my window..the sun is shining, and it's going to be in the upper 50's. Yes!!!

Today I feel..sleepy and my throat hurts for the second morning in a row.

I am thinking..it's time to start exercising...boo...hoo.

I am thankful..for losing a half a pound this week. I'm amazed as I binged on some serious cookie dough more than once this week.

Tomorrow I am going..to work, hang with the fellas, and paint.

I am wearing..gray dress pants and a red sweater. Sorry, no green for St. Patty's day...I don't own any. Pretty sad for a girl named Erin. LOL

I wish..I could go back in time.

This weekend I..am hopefully going to finish up some painting, clean, play, and host my nephews' 13th birthday party. Wow...13!

I am a lot late in posting this. Marcus & Maddox moved from cribs into big boy beds AND gave up their binkies the same day this past January 2011.

Honestly, where did my babies go? It seams like just yesterday they were sharing a crib. And sadly the first year was such a blur I barely remember it. :-(

Outside my window..it's cold but the sun is shining. I can deal with the cold as long as the sun's out...it's so rejuvenating!!!

Today I feel..eh. Just eh.

I am thinking..about the project I started last night, painting the dark built-ins in the living room. I got one primed and one to go. I was going to paint them the trim color of the living room, but now I'm contemplating painting them a *fun* color like olive green or something. Hmm...what to do...what to do?

I am thankful..for losing the 2 pounds I gained last week AND an additional .5 pounds :-)

Tomorrow I am going..to work, play with the kiddos, and do more painting.

I am wearing..black dress pants, a gray sweater, and jewelry. Oh and shoes, socks, undies and a bra...just in case you were wondering ;-)

I wish..my cabinets could paint themselves. Or, that I had all the time in the world to paint them. It's so hard to get projects done when you have two little ones to take care of.

1. Can you drive a stick shift?
Yuppers!!! My parents required that my sister and I know how to drive a standard in the event of an emergency. My first car was a standard and then I had a Volkswagon Turbo Jetta several years back that was a standard and lots o'fun. When I met my husband, he drove this fancy pick-up truck that was all sorts of tricked out, including some sort of special clutch. We were out at a club and he dared me to drive his truck home. He didn't think I could do it. Even his own friends stalled first try. But I didn't. He was so impressed. I'm pretty sure that's when he fell in love with me and knew that I would be his wife some day.
2. What are two foods you just can't eat?
Hmmm, I'm not sure. I absolutely hate root beer. I know it's not a "food", but I hate it. My husband used to like to torture me with root beer barrel candies. He would suck on them and then blow his breath at me. Yuck! I can't even deal with the smell.
Oh yeah...and eggs. I am really not a fan. And again....the smell. Ew. How can you get past the smell prior to placing them in your mouth?
3. Do you buy Girl Scout Cookies? What is your favorite kind?
Nope, I do not buy Girl Scot Cookies. Not by choice...I just don't know any Girl Scouts. And thank heavens I don't because I just love their cookies. I like the peanut butter chocolate ones, not sure of the official name but dayyum those babies are good. I could totally polish off the whole box in one sitting.
4. How do you pamper yourself?
I don't really get to do much to pamper myself. Mostly because of time and lack of funds. My husband isn't around much in order for me to get out to pamper myself. I do get my hair cut and colored every 6 weeks {by my sister} but even that appointment is stressful. I am constantly watching the clock because I need to get home because of my husband. Oh..and I don't get the luxery of her blow-drying and styling my hair...it takes too much time and you know...I need to hurry and get home. {As I'm typing this, I can literally feel how dry the bottoms of my feet are by the way they scratch the blanket I'm under. I need a pedicure. Oh wait, I had one scheduled, but of course had to cancel.}
5. What is your nickname and how did you get it?
Goldylocks of course. And it's not because I'm {currently} a blonde. It has something to do with my maiden name.

Outside my window..I have no clue what it's like outside. I haven't seen out there since 8am...it was kinda cloudy and getting *warm* for Western NY standards.
Today I feel..rested.
I am thinking..my stomach is full...but my brain is still hungry.
I am thankful..for losing .5lbs this week. I binged on beer, M&M's, and homemade chocolate/butterscotch/m&m cookies. I thought for sure I would gain and prayed I would at least stay the same. .5! Woo Hoo!
Tomorrow I am going..to do whatever I want. I'm taking the day off. I have to grocery shop and buy my mom a birthday gift...other than that...no plans.
I am wearing..gray dress paints and this really cute black shirt my sister gave me that makes me feel good about myself.
I wish..that I could be one of those people that could eat anything they want.
This weekend I..don't have much going on. Boys have a hair cut appointment on Saturday and I am getting my brows and hairy lip ripped off :-)

I am working on..collecting money from criminals.
Yesterday I..worked, played with the fellas, and cleaned the house.
I am hoping..that my girlfriend brings an amazing dessert to Pizza Night tonight....it's my cheat night.

1. Did you get any Valentine's gifts?
I came home to homemade cookies and a card from the hubs and my boys. {It's a good thing too as I thought there would be nothing...I was already planning how to terminate his existance if he didn't acknowledge me today.}

2. What is your favorite topping on something toasted?
Raspberry jam with peanut butter. Yummmmmmm.

3. Do you pick out your outfit the night before?
Not usually. BC {before children} I used to do this. Now by the time I collapse into my bed the last thing I'm thinking about is the next day. I usually think this over while showering in the morning. I run my closet through my head as well as what items need to be ironed. I hate it when I go to my closet and the outfit I had planned out in my head is actually in the washing machine because I forgot to switch the clothes over to the dryer before I fell unconscious the previous night.

4. What food item do you absolutely despise?
Wow this is a tough one as I really enjoy food. {See my sidebar to the right...hence the need for weight loss.} I will try pretty much anything as long as you tell me what it is. I hate it when someone puts something in front of me with a big smerk on their face saying, "Just try it." I must know what it is. There are plenty of foods that I do not enjoy, but I can not think of any that deam the despise title.

Outside my window..there is some big bright thing in the sky. It hurt my eyes this morning. What on earth is it?

Today I feel..psyched!

I am thinking..about my weigh-in this morning. Down THREE pounds for a total weight loss so far of 12.5 pounds.

I am thankful..for my husband. He is my number one fan, always so supportive and there to cheer me on.

Tomorrow I am going..to work, and then take the kids to one of my nephews' lacrosse games.

I am wearing..gray dress paints, a purple shirt, and a cute little three quarter sleeved jacket.

I wish..that I didn't have to exercise. But I know I have to. I really haven't exercised since before I got pregnant with the boys. Once I lose this weight, I'm going to be all soft and flabby. I MUST get started now so once the weight is off my muscles will be tight too.

This weekend I..am getting a pedicure and going to a professional lacrosse game with my sister and her family on Saturday. No plans on Sunday which is exactly what I like.

I am reading..nothing. I have several books to read but just haven't found the time to crack those babies open.

I am working on..becoming healthy. I quit smoking, went off the birth control pill {no, we are not trying to get pregnant} that I was on for way too many years, and changed my eating habits.

Yesterday I..worked, made an awesome dinner of Tilapia, brown rice and green beans, of which my children ate ALL of. My girlfriend came over and I gave her a manicure and pedicure. And then the boys and I had a dance party in the family room.

I am hoping..that pizza night tonight isn't as loud and crazy as it has been lately. My nephews tend to get a little nutso when they come to my house {why? I don't know} and it can be kinda stressful.

I am hearing..the second hand moving on the clock in my office. It's kinda loud.

I bet you didn't know..that I took cake decorating classes many years back. I used to LOVE baking and decorating cakes. I haven't made/decorated a cake since we moved into our house five years ago. I really need to brush up on my skills {read that Napolean Dynamite style} and make the boys' birthday cake this year. Sad that I have this talent and haven't put it to use with my children.

One of my favorite..days of the week is Thursday...because it's pizza night but also my *cheat* night. I get to pig out on pizza AND dessert. {Last week I had four slices of BBQ Pizza AND two slices of Cheesecake!} (and I still managed to lose 3 pounds)

My Valentine's plans include..nothing special. Hang out with the hubs and the kiddos on Sunday. I won't see my hubby on Valentine's Day except for a brief moment when I get home from work and he leaves.

I Am Never Going to Live This Down

Last night was just like any other night in my home.

That is, until I ran down to the basement to switch the laundry over to the dryer.

If you follow me on twitter, then you would have read this lovely gem last night:

Yes. Yes. You read that right. A mouse in my dryer.

I was switching the clothes over from the washer to the dryer when I saw it. An obviously drowned white mouse laying at the bottom of my washing machine.

I freaked the freak out. How did it get it there? Was he in my laundry while I placed it in the washer? Was he stuck in the bottom and I threw the clothes on him? How many more mice were living in my basement? Do I rewash these clothes or should I burn them?

{A few weeks prior to this event I found a drowned mouse in the utility sink in the basement where my washing machine drains into.}

Where are these mice coming from? We have never had a mouse issue.

A phone call to my husband ensues. I frantically explain the dead mouse in my washing machine as he tells me to simply "get it out." Get it out? Me? Get it out? Oh no, no way. I do not deal with dead animals. That is one of the reasons I got married.

So long story short, I got the mouse out. I had gloves on and four plastic bags protecting my hand. Sweating, breathing heavily, making sounds I never made before, I got the sucker out. I knotted the bag tight and put him in the garbage bin outside.

I am scarred for life.

Fast forward to this morning. My sister calls me:

Sister: Was the mouse white?

Me: Yes it was white.

Sister: Um, the boys were playing with a white rubber mouse at my house the other day.

Me: Are you kidding?

Sister: No. I thought it was kind of funny when you said it was white.

Me: You're not just saying this to make me feel better are you?

Sister: No. Really. It's a toy.

Yes folks. The mouse that caused my anxiety attack that is now wrapped in four plastic bags tight and in the garbage bin outside was a toy.

My husband got word.

I'm never going to live this down.

1. What is your favorite kind of fudge?
Chocolate Walnut...and boy what I would do for some fudge right now. I've been counting calories for three weeks. One of the guys from the police department down the hall at work brought these GIANT brownies in last week. I saw the plate first thing in the morning and haven't stopped thinking about them since.
2. Is there snow outside your window?
Oh boy there sure is....along with negative temperatures. Brr. Why do I live in Western NY you ask?
3. What is your favorite meal of the day?
Lunch. Being a full time working mom, Monday through Friday I am at work, and I get to enjoy a quiet peaceful lunch. A lunch that I can enjoy warm and in it's entirety.
4. Do you text on your cell phone?
Ha! Do I text? I text, tweet, and facebook. I barely actually talk on my cell phone.
5. Waffles or pancakes?
Pancakes. My husband makes the best chocolate chip pancakes. I like waffles a lot too. But they must be belgian with strawberries and whipped cream.

Outside my window..it's cold and snowy.

The time is..8:58AM.

Today I feel..mad.

I am thinking..about how the black cloud hanging over me bringing me bad luck is really starting to piss me off.

At the moment, I am thankful..that I haven't hurt anyone yet today.

I am going..to the auto parts store on my lunch to replace the drivers' side windshield wiper that fell off this morning. This caused me to drive to work with no wiper which in the summer would have been just fine. But in the winter, after a big snow fall, salt is spread all over our roads, then the snow melts and there is water...lots of salty dirty water...that gets sprayed all over your windshield causing you to have to WIPE it constantly...which is really difficult to do when you don't have a wiper.

I am wearing..black dress paints and a cute pink sweater my sister gave to me when she cleaned out her closet {I love when she cleans out her closet...I get lots of new stuff}.

I wish..this bad luck would go away. Is this how the whole year is going to be? I can't take much more.

I am reading..nothing these days. I have a pile of books to read at home, a few freebies I downloaded, and one on reserve at the library. I really need to get back to reading again. Reading has always been an escape for me...and I could really use an escape right about now.

I am working on..losing weight. I'm using My Fitness Pal to track my food and exercise. I am loving this site. I really wanted to go back to Weight Watchers but I just can not afford it. And really, all Weight Watchers does is take all the nutrition information of a food and calculates it into points. My Fitness Pal counts calories. Oh, and it's FREE!

I am hoping..that hubs and I continue to stick to our new healthy lifestyles. It makes dieting so much easier when we do it together.

I am hearing..the radio and the sound of my fingers typing on the keyboard.

I bet you didn't know..I have been smoke free for SIX WEEKS!!!!!!

One of my favorite..snacks these days are Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels. I can have thirty of them for seventy calories. I make them last...one by one by one.

Weekend Plans..

[Thursday] It's my weekly Pizza Night. I'm going to make a pepperoni one for my brother-in-law and his kids since they're boring like that. For the rest of us {my sister, my kids, and I} I'm going to make a barbecue chicken one. This way I can keep the calories low and still enjoy some pizza.
[Friday] No plans besides work. I hope it stays that way.
[Saturday] Assemble Marcus and Maddox's BIG BOY BEDS! It's time. I'm scared.
[Sunday] Not sure yet...lets hope Saturday night goes well and that we all get a good nights sleep.

Am I Being Punked?

2011...I dislike you already.

You have brought nothing but bad luck to me.

It actually started prior to 2011. So I thought to myself, "At least it's not 2011 yet".

WRONG

I totally jinxed myself.

On December 20, my beautiful Droid X bit the dust. I brought it to Verizon where the lovely lady told me, "I'm sorry, there is nothing we can do for you." {I'm the genius that did not have insurance on my almost $600 phone.}

Thank heavens my husband is savvy enough to look into the matter, and found that the phone was still covered under warranty through Motorola. So off my phone went. They said it would be done in 5-7 business days. Of course, this was right before the holidays so it was going to be much longer.

Christmas came and went without a hitch...they were wonderful! {I know, I owe y'all a Christmas post still.}

The morning of December 26 came. I was super excited as this was the day my Fairy Godmother and I planned on going to Buffalo for our yearly girly Buffalo Bills game, where we go extra early to do some ~~damage~~ shopping in the Bills Store. I wandered out to my car, got in {feeling like the Michelan Man in all of my warm layers}and started the car.

Nothing. Tried again. Nothing.

Are you kidding me?

I ran into the house where my husband was still in his boxers about to get the boys up. Luckily, my husband is VERY mechanically able, so he ran outside {he put clothes on first in case you were wondering} to see what was the matter. After a bit, he came in and the conversation went like this:

Him: Hon, it doesn't look good.
Me: What do you mean it doesn't look good?
Him: I think it's your timing belt.
Me: How much does that cost?
Me: How am I going to get to work?
Me: I need to go to the game.
Him: I don't know what to tell you.
{At this time, I call my Fairy Godmother who can't pick me up because she's on pain meds from the MRSA she contracted during Thanksgiving (that is a whole 'nother blog post). Luckily her husband is awesome and came to pick me up.}
Conversation continues between myself and Marcus {I'm crying at this point}.
Me: Crying
Marcus: Momma, are you sad?
Me: Yes honey, momma is a little sad.
Marcus (with his arms out-stretched): Gimme a hug.
Me: Crying more because he is so stinking cute.

Sometime in between these two dates our {five year old} hot water heater decides it would be a great time to stop working. Hubby, again, because he is my hero, looked into it and it was just that the pilot light went out somehow. He re-lit it and we were golden....for a few days.

The evening of December 26, after I got home from the football game, and after my body had thawed out from the freezing temperatures, I thought it would be a fabulous time to wash all of the lovely clothes my kids and I received for Christmas.

Bad decision.

For somehow, something melted in the {five year old} dryer on the rear vent and deposited itself all over our brand new FLEECE clothes.

We still have yet to figure out what this item was that melted in our dryer. Luckily I was able to salvage the clothes {enough}, but that was after much picking of hardened plastic and swearing and complaining by me.

Luckily that week my husband was on "vacation" from work. Little did he know my car would die, the hot water heater would "go", and the dryer would melt some foreign object. Luckily, my husband is a mechanical genius and was able to determine that my car only needed spark plugs of which he had purchased the previous weekend. {Thank You God!}

Now I know you must be thinking, at this point, the story ends here. You are wrong. Oh so wrong.

After December 26, the {five year old} hot water heater decided to snuff the flame out again, and my {five year old} washing machine thought it would be a grand time to leak water from underneath. Again, my husband was on his much needed "vacation" so he was able to tear apart the hot water heater and clean it and it's been working fine since {fingers crossed} and the water under the washing machine we think was because I had put way too much in there {oops}.

Finally, we were nearing the New Year. A New Year to start over...a clean slate.

Wrong again.

On New Year's Eve, my sister and her family came over. While preparing a beverage for my sister, I noticed the ice cubes were wet...not completely frozen. I brushed it off not thinking about it again until a few days later when my husband noticed that...hmmm....the items in the freezer of our {five year old} refrigerator, weren't quite as frozen anymore. Now isn't that just great.

Thankfully we have a freezer in the basement so I was able to transfer our freezer items down there...and thankfully it's winter and my garage is nice and cold so I moved our refrigerator items out there. Do you know how fun it is to have to go into your cold garage in your jammies in the morning for your coffee creamer? Now THAT is one way to wake yourself up in the morning.

Each day my dear husband tried something new to repair our {five year old} refrigerator. By this past Friday, he had had about enough and made the executive decision to buy a new one the next day.

On January 6, my beloved Droid X was returned. I was out of my mind ready to have my ~~most prized possession~~ phone back. So much so, that I made my husband and kids come to my work to deliver it to me so I could get her running during my ~~work day~~ lunch hour.

Well, I got my hopes up. I should have known better. The Droid X was activated all right, and was in fact usable....if I was OUTSIDE!!! The moment I was in a building or in my own home, all service was lost. So back to Motorola she went.

Seriously y'all, I can't make this shit up. This is what I have been dealing with for the past few weeks. What is is with the five year mark and my major appliances?

I just want to go to bed, and not wake up until 2012. Oh, but I'm going to take my new refrigerator with me and the new built in microwave hubby surprised me with. I love them so much I could make out with 'em.

1. Have you (only you..not a group) ever won first place in anything?
Yup, I think it was in the 5th grade. We had to write a biography about someone. I chose Marilyn Monroe {because my mom's name is Marilyn}. The winner {moi} got to choose a t-shirt. I chose a New Kids On The Block {NKOTB} t-shirt. It was rad.
2. Are your toes always painted (sorry guys...this question for girls only)?
Yes. They may not always be FULLY painted though. Like right now, I need a pedicure.
3. What color eyes do you have?
Blue. My babies got their looks from their daddy...but they got their blue eyes and their sparkling personalities from their momma.
4. Look to your left....what do you see?
A brick wall {I'm at work}, the kind of walls you see in a prison {again, I'm at work}.
5. Soft cookies or crunchy cookies?
Totally depends on the cookie. I like soft homemade chocolate chip cookies, but like hard chocolate chip cookies of they are packaged. I like Oreo cookies both ways...hard....until I dunk them in milk for 30 seconds {yes, I count to 30 quickly...every single time}and then they are perfectly soft.

Lose thirty to forty pounds. {Yes, you read that right. I made the mistake of weighing myself this morning...I gained six pounds over the holidays. H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E!}
Start a weight loss blog. {And actually post my weight and nasty before pictures.}
STOP spending money on things I do not need.

2. What food item are you craving right now?

Cookies. I just ate lunch and I always want something sweet right after, regardless of if I'm full or not.

April 5th {Two days after my boys' birthday.}

4. What were you doing an hour ago?

Eating lunch, chit chatting and laughing with my coworker and another girl who works in our building.

5. Last thing you cooked?

Grilled chicken on my new indoor grill, broccoli, and brown rice. {That was Saturday night, hubs made dinner last night :-)}

Outside my window..it's cold and grey.

The time is..8:25AM

Today I feel..content, but I know as soon as I start thinking of all there is to do I'll be feeling stressed.

I am thinking..about everything that needs to be done before tomorrow evening.

At the moment, I am thankful..for this holiday season. That we are healthy, have food to eat and a wonderful family to share it with. I am thankful that we could afford to buy our children presents for Christmas. It was a struggle, but it makes me think of those who can't afford to buy one gift or afford to put a hot meal on the table. With the number of billionairres and millionairres out there, there shouldn't be such a thing as homelessness or poverty.

I am going..to go meet my girlfriend's new baby Mia today. I can't wait to hold her and snugggle her and smell her.

I am wearing..pink pajama bottoms that have candies all over them (the boys love these jammies) with a pink pajama top and pink slippers. I kinda look like Pepto Bismal threw up all over me now that I think of it :-)

I wish..every child has a present to open this Saturday morning, and that they have a wonderful, loving family to share their Christmas with.

I am reading..Skinny Italian, the cookbook written by Terese Guidice from The Real Housewives of New Jersey.

I am working on..getting the rest of the presents wrapped and built. I was up until 1am this morning building one of the boys' toys. I also need to start cleaning this house and getting it ready for company. I love having company, it motivates me to clean things that I normally don't do on a weekly basis.

I am hoping..for a relaxing, fun Christmas Eve and Christmas.

I am hearing..Good Morning America and the kiddos starting to wake.

I bet you didn't know..I haven't had a cigarette in THREE WEEKS!!!! I feel fabulous. There are moments when I want one but all in all it has been great. The medication is a form of anti-anxiety med so THAT portion of it is doing wonders as well. I feel much more care free and less overwhelmed with life. I think it's doing miraculous things for my marriage as well. I no longer am on the edge and always angry with my husband. If you are a smoker, I highly recommend Chantix. Do it! You'll thank me.

One of my favorite..Christmas traditions, is the breakfast I make each year and have made for the last...oh...ten years probably. (Wow, that makes me feel old)

Weekend Plans..

[Thursday] I'm off work today. Going to run to the post office and go snuggle a new baby. Then home to start some cleaning and prepare for Pizza Night tonight!
[Friday] Relax with the family. Go to my in-laws for Christmas Eve festivities. I hope they have mimosas!
[Saturday] Christmas!!! I can NOT wait until Christmas morning. The boys "get" it much more this year. We will be staying home in our jammies, enjoying new toys and relaxing. Then my family comes to our house for dinner and more present opening. Ooh I'm so excited!
[Sunday] Going to the Buffalo Bills vs New England Patriots game with my Fairy Godmother. It is going to be so cold. I don't get why Buffalo, NY would not have a covered football stadium. I usually don't go to a game this late in the season, but because of my Fairy Godmother's illness we missed the game we planned to go to earlier. She has season tickets and we go to a game at least once a year. Our favorite part is the Bills' Store. I just pray for no snow, Buffalo gets slammed...their last storm had people stranded on the Thruway for over 10 hours.

1. How do you order your steak?

I don't really order steak. I'm a chicken girl. But if I were lucky enough to actually have a babysitter and a date with my husband and the funds to order steak...I would order it Medium Well.

2. Are you superstitious about anything?

Oh boy...too many things. I knock on wood. I try very hard not to say things that will jinx myself or a situation. I follow the ear ringing thing to a T. Right for spite, left for love...both at night lovers' delight. If my right ear is ringing I make sure to pinch it so that whoever is speaking negatively of me will bite their tongue.

I know, I have problems.

3. Who is your best friend (not including your spouse)?

I have a few.

My sister Jessica. Since having children of my own we have become so close. She is the one I always turn to, the one that knows me the most, the one I speak to every single day.

My girlfriend Barb who left me several years ago to move to glorious North Carolina. She has two little ones now too. How much I wish that she lived near so we could hang out while our children play. I miss her so much.

My girlfriend Courtney. We have been friends since the sixth grade. I am her first born's godmother and I was the maid of honor in her wedding. She now has three children that keep her super busy. She is also going through a not so pretty divorce. We don't get to talk or see each other often...which is sad since she moved pretty much around the corner from me this summer. The thing I love most about our friendship is that we both understand how busy and different our lives are right now. We don't hold it against each other. When we do get the chance to talk or see each other, it's as if we just spoke yesterday. I love her so much.

4. When is the last time your wore a dress (for the guys...a suit)?

In October, to a dinner that was held at the conference I went to for work. I love wearing dresses but I usually only wear them in summer or to a fancy event.

5. Do you have any trips scheduled?

I wish. My husband and I really need to get away. Actually...I would LOVE to go on a family vacation. I do though have plans to visit my BFF in North Carolina (by myself) in February.

1. What Christmas song do you loathe?

I love love LOVE Christmas music. In fact, I have already dug out my CD's and loaded up the changer in my car :-). There are a few songs that I loathe. I am not a fan of the silly songs like Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer. I lean more towards the Christmas songs that celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. I may get flamed for this...but I absolutely loathe the Christmas Shoes song. I don't know what it is about that song, but whenever it comes on I have to turn it off. I just can't stand it.

2. Do you and your significant other cuddle at night or sleep on opposite sides of the bed?

Both.

3. Have you ever had surgery?

Nope, unless you count when my wisdom teeth were pulled. :-) That was an interesting experience. My teeth were impacted so the surgeon had some work to do. The worst part was all of the shots of novocaine. Once that part was over, I settled in and watched the show via the reflection in the surgeons safety glasses (I know..I'm weird). After the ordeal, they placed me in a recovery room where I was being watched on camera. They gave me a shot in my arm that was supposed to help with the swelling and told me, "You might feel a little tingly once the medicine runs through your veins." Oh, ok then. What they did not tell me was that WHERE I would feel said tingles would be in an area that is not appropriate to itch while being watched via closed-circuit television.

4. When do you typically have your holiday shopping done?

Ugh! I have barely started. I am a right down to the wire kind of gal, so you will see me out purchasing final items up until December 23rd.

5. If money were not an issue (and you HAD to pick something), what would your ultimate luxury item be?

Oh my gosh...I really have no idea. An item? So it can't be a house. Because really..if money were not an issue, I would want a brand spankin' new (BIG) house.

Outside my window..it's cold, windy, and rainy. Guess it's time to get used to this kind of weather as we'll be seeing it for several months to come.

The time is..12:31PM

Today I feel..starving. I haven't had anything to eat yet, which is so unlike me....but work was busy all morning. Now that I have a second to breathe the hunger has set in.

I am thinking..about how sad I am that Abby is no longer going to be hosting Just Thursday.

At the moment, I am thankful..that lunch is on the way.

I am going..to inhale my Gnocci and Meatball as soon as my coworker returns with it :-)

I am wearing..dark brown dress paints, a dark brown lace cami, and a light brown/beigeish sweater.

I wish..I had a money tree...one that would be in FULL bloom this time of year.

I am reading..well...I have a few books and magazines sitting on my counter that I haven't opened. Does that count as reading?

I am working on..getting the docket together for Monday & Tuesday's court sessions.

I am hoping..for a relaxing weekend.

I am hearing..the radio and the time stamp machine clicking every few minutes.

I bet you didn't know..I still haven't quit smoking...and I still haven't started on my Chantix. I have the script filled...it's just waiting for me to start taking it.

One of my favorite..days of the year is the day after Thanksgiving. I decorate the house for Christmas that day. I can't wait to decorate this year with the fellas. They are really going to get a kick out of it this year.

Weekend Plans..

[Thursday] We are celebrating my nephews birthday at my house tonight. I'll have to run home and start building pizzas right away as I have four to make.
[Friday] No plans. Probably hang with my sister and after the kiddos go to bed, do her nails.
[Saturday] Nothing planned. Probably hang with the fellas, clean, and grocery shop.
[Sunday] Taking the fellas to some sort of a train show my husband heard about. I'm thinking it's model trains. The boys will love it...and it will be a couple hours of FREE entertainment....my favorite!

More than one million infants die each year because they are born too soon.

Every year, an estimated 13 million babies worldwide are born prematurely.

On Thursday, April 3, 2008, two of those 13 million babies were my babies.

Marcus and Maddox were born at 31 weeks 1 day. That is 9 weeks early. More than two months early.

Marcus came into this world weighing a mere 3 pounds 14 ounces, four minutes later, Maddox joined us weighing in at 3 pounds 11 ounces.

If you would have told me two (three now) years ago, that I would have two babies, born premature, and that we would spend the first months of their lives living in the NICU, I would have laughed at you.

But on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 I wasn't laughing. In fact I was crying, sobbing actually. Fearing the worst.

I will never, ever, ever forget that day. It was the second most terrifying day of my life. The first most terrifying day was the day they were born.

Nothing can ever prepare you for the premature birth of your baby or babies. You don't read about it in those cutsie books that explain "The Birth Experience". You expect your pregnancy to be an uneventful peaceful experience, of which mine was. You expect your labor and delivery to be smooth sailing, your friends and family visiting you, giving you moral support, even joking and laughing at times. Your husband holding your hand, talking to friends and family, anticipating the birth of his children. All the while the nurses are in and out of your room, not worrying about a thing. God how I longed for an experience like that.

But on Wednesday, April 2 into Thursday, April 3 that was not the case. It was a hospital visit, followed with an ambulance ride, and another hospital visit, that turned into a stay. It was nurses and doctors checking temperatures, and fluids, and heartbeats. It was Neonatology coming to see you to explain to you and your husband what may or may not happen in the minutes, hours, or even days to come.

I can't really explain how I felt. Numb. In denial. I joked..a lot. It was the only thing that got me through while inside I was terrified, screaming, praying, crying for my unborn boys. I put on a smile for my husband, my friends, and my family. And just listened...to the tiny fast heartbeats...two of them...on the monitor. They were routing for me, my boys. They were expecting me to be strong for them. And that I did.

I delivered my boys naturally, in an operating room. Seconds after they were born they were whisked away into the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Again, not something those books prepare you for. Why didn't I get to hold my babies, and kiss them, and comfort their new little cries?

No, I didn't get to hold my babies. And I did not get to see my babies..MY OWN BABIES...for several hours. I didn't get to take my babies home with me. Nothing prepares you for returning to your home, to a brand new nursery, with empty arms. No babies to rock in the chair in the nursery. No babies to change on the beautiful changing table Grandpa made for them. No babies to place in a crib they would be sharing for months to come.

Thankfully, the Lord was on our side. Marcus and Maddox were born healthy. The were just what the NICU called "Feeders and Growers".

Marcus spent 28 days in the NICU and Maddox, 31 days.

Today, they are thriving, growing, walking, silly, talking, beautiful, handsome, loving nineteen month olds (now two & a half years old). Those days in the NICU seem like a million years ago, but yet, seam like just yesterday.

I'm telling my story today, along with many others, because November is Prematurity Awareness Month, and today is the day us Bloggers Unite to Fight For Preemies.

If I can reach out to just one pregnant mommy and urge her to find out what she can do while she's pregnant to help her have a healthy full-term baby, I have done my part. I want every mommy out there to have the birth experience of their dreams.

Please take the time today to visit March of Dimes and see what you can learn and do to fight for babies like my Marcus and Maddox. And if you are feeling extra touched, please make a donation to them. The March of Dimes Prematurity Campaign is a multimillion-dollar research, awareness and education effort that helps families have healthier babies.

We need to fight - because babies shouldn't have to.

1. What is the most physically painful thing that has ever happened to you?

Child birth. Honestly, the actual act of birthing was nowhere near as painful as I attempted preparing myself for. Now, the moments FOLLOWING child birth were excruciating. {TMI ALERT} I hemorrhaged. Do you know what they do when you hemorrhage? Let's just say, that the doctor's hand and arm were up in a place that two human beings just came OUT of. Nothing, and I mean nothing should be going back IN there.

2. How much sleep do you get at night?

I get about six to seven hours of sleep most nights. Are they straight six to seven hours of sleep? No way. My dear husband gets home from work at approximately 1:30AM. Although he attempts to remain quiet, he usually is not successful. It really isn't his fault...I just happen to wake up to the littlest sounds. I also, for some reason, wake up between 4AM and 4:30AM EVERY.SINGLE.MORNING. Why? No idea. It is extremely annoying when you awake in the middle of every night and say to yourself, "Let me guess....it's 4ish o'clock" and you look at the clock and it is.

3. How long did you believe in Santa Claus? How did you find out that he does not exist?

I'm really not sure on this one. I do not recall when I found out he didn't exist. It must have not been that traumatic of an experience. Now, my mother telling me Santa took my "night night" (my blanky as a child), THAT was traumatic. Hmm, wonder if I should try the Santa story for the boys' binkies? Would that be mean?

4. What was the last movie you saw in a theater?

Sex in the City 2. Funny thing is, I have never watched Sex in the City. My sister and a girlfriend wanted to go see it and my mom was offering to babysit...so I couldn't pass up babysitting and a few hours to myself.

5. What do you wear to bed?

Depends on the time of year. I wear a tank, a t-shirt, or a long sleeved top with my under-roos. I can not wear anything on my legs as I feel like I'm going to get all twisted up. My p.j. bottoms are next to my bed though for when I get out.

Outside my window..I'm at work, so no windows looking outside except into the hallway.  We don't open our window until 9am so the blinds are closed.  Therefore I do not see anything out my window :-)  Outside though, it is cold, and rainy.

The time is..8:13am 

Today I feel..good.   

I am thinking..about how I lost 2.5 pounds this week, and that last nights Raspberry Cream Cheese Brownie I ate that my mom made, is not going to bode well with next weeks weigh in. 

At the moment, I am thankful..that my house has remained clean all week.  Toys have been picked up, and kitchen sink has been empty the last few days I've gotten home from work.  You have no idea how happy that makes me.

I am going..to (hopefully) go to Kohl's on my lunch.  I have a few returns, a coupon, and Kohl's cash to spend.  Hello Christmas presents!!  

I am wearing..black pin-striped dress pants, a gray three quarter length sweater, and one of my favorite long necklaces.

I wish..Christmas wasn't so out of control. 

I am reading..Uncharted TerriTORI, by Tori Spelling

I am working on..losing weight.  I would LOVE to lose 35 pounds, but will be happy to lose 25. (Same as last week!)

I am hoping..Find some good deals at Kohl's today.

I am hearing..the radio in my office playing Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville.  Makes me think of my dad.  He loves Jimmy Buffet.  During the summer, when we are all outside hanging by the pool, Jimmy Buffet is usually being piped through the out door speakers. 

I bet you didn't know..that my husband has two sisters and a brother, and that his mom had is older sister when she was sixteen.  My husband is second oldest.  His parents were married that young and are still together to this day.  I admire the relationship they have.  You can tell just by observing them, that they are still in love and adore each other.

One of my favorite..days of the week is Thursday.

Outside my window..it's dark, dreary, windy, and cold. Brrr.

The time is..1:00PM 

Today I feel..tired.  It's that lovely time of the month that brings with it headaches and just feeling icky and tired. 

I am thinking..I have done so well with my eating this week.  I have been drinking a lot of water, eating a lot of vegetables, and staying within my points range each day.  I fear for the weekend as that is when I FAIL. 

At the moment, I am thankful..that today is my Friday.  Woot! Woot!

I am going..to start Hip Hop Abs tonight.  I'm really looking forward to it.  It looks like a lot of fun and a great workout.  The bonus is that it looks as if I can workout WITH the boys, thus killing two birds with one stone; exercising AND entertainment for the kids.  My kind of activity.

I am wearing..black dress pants, my BOO! shirt that comes out once a year, and bat dangly earrings.  I'm a dork..I know :-)

I wish..I didn't give into temptation as easily.  I am really trying hard to change my attitude towards food and sweets.

I bet you didn't know..that chocolate candy bars top the list of favorite Halloween Candy with Snickers being number one.  

One of my favorite..Halloween candies is Mallow Cups.  Not many people hand those out these days though...that and they are difficult to find any where.  What is your favorite Halloween candy?

[Thursday] Hopefully if the rain holds out, the fellas and I will be going to my nephew's football game.

[Friday] Off work.  Need to get my car inspected (it was due in September), then take boys for their flu shots.  Then it's dinner over at my parents.

I'm hoping to bring the boys to the Pumpkin Patch.  No, I haven't brought them yet.  I know, I know, I'm mom of the year.  Actually it's because my husband is never home and I just can't do it myself.  I'm not waiting for him anymore, I've recruited my Fairy Godmother.

Outside my window..it's gloom and doom.  One of those dark, dingy fall days.  You know, where the clouds are DARK DARK gray and the wind is whipping the leaves around.

The time is..8:31am 

Today I feel..rested.  For once hubby didn't wake me up when he got home from work.  Of course, I still woke at 4am which happens every single morning these days.

I am thinking..I need to drink more water.  I usually drink four to five 24oz containers of water a day.  Lately I'm lucky if I drink one. 

At the moment, I am thankful..for my Fairy Godmother.  I love her and appreciate her so much.  She does so much for me and my babies.  I don't know if I will ever be able to thank her enough.

I am going..to start working in a few minutes.

I am wearing..gray dress pants and a pink sweater that looks like it was washed with something dark blue as it has a bit of a blue tinge to it.  Oops.

I wish..I really don't know this one right now.  Lately I do not believe in wishes so what is the point in wishing?

I bet you didn't know..that my boys are still not potty trained.  I really need to get crackin' on this...but I'm dreading it and have been avoiding it.  They know WHAT the potty is and WHAT it's for.  They even tell me when they are going and if their diapers need to be changed.  That tells me they are ready.

One of my favorite..things about Fall is the laziness of it all.  I don't feel so overwhelmed with chores.  I allow myself to take a break and relax this time of year and don't feel guilty about it...well...most times anyway.

Outside my window..it has finally stopped raining after several days.  The sun is supposed to make an appearance...I can't wait to see it.

The time is..8:19am

Today I feel..stressed.

I am thinking.. about how my new job and my new (lesser) salary is starting to catch up with me.  It's been a battle of robbing Peter to pay Paul these days.  Wondering how I can fix it.  I wish I could find some part time work I could do from home after the kids go to bed.  I wish I could really grow a photography business, but without the capital to start it up and the lack of time since my husband works so much, it's a no go.

At the moment, I am thankful.. that I have a job to pay those bills, even if it's a struggle. 

I am going..away on Sunday for work, and will not be home until next Wednesday.  I am really nervous and worried about leaving my children.  They will be home with dad on Sunday, then Monday and Tuesday they will be home with Dad during the day like normal, then go to my sister's when the hubs goes to work.  My sister will then bring them home and put them to bed until my husband gets home from work.  He's going to take 1/2 days on Monday and Tuesday so my sister doesn't have to be there until 2:00 in the morning.  

I am wearing..black dress pants and a peacock blue sweater.

I wish..I didn't have to stress about money.  It is really consuming my thoughts lately, and I don't know what to do about it.  

I am reading..nothing at the moment.  I really should read Dave Ramsey's The Total Money Makeover.  I have a couple of gift cards for Amazon thanks to Swagbucks...maybe I should order it.

I am working on..nothing.  I have bags and bins of children's clothes that I need to sell.  And a basement filled with toys.  I have lacked the motivation to sell them.  It's just so much work.  I know that if I get moving I could make some extra money.  Does anyone have any ideas as to how to make money off of these items in the easiest possible manner? 

I am hoping..my husband has a good time with the boys while I am away.  I am worried that instead of having fun, he will be stressed out.  I am really afraid to call him while I am away and hear the stress and miserableness in his voice because it is going to make me want to go home.

I am hearing..the radio on low in my office and that's it.  It's quiet and I like it.

I bet you didn't know..that Halloween is the second most commercially successful holiday with Christmas being the first.

One of my favorite..holidays is Halloween.

[Thursday] Pizza Night 

[Friday] It's Fishing Weekend at my Fairy Godmother's family's lake front compound.  The boys and I are going to go visit and play. 

[Saturday] Hair appointment, groceries, Fishing Weekend, pack for my trip.

[Sunday] I have to leave by 9:30am for my work trip.  Then the 4-5 hour long drive.  I'm looking forward to the peace and quiet of that drive.

I made the yummiest soup this week.

I really need to share it with you all. I urge you to make it. And eat it. Every. Single. Day. Actually I am eating some right this moment.

That's how good it is.

Here is the recipe:

Chicken Tortilla Soup

Ingredients:

1 Can Refried Beans
1 Can of Corn with Liquid
1 Can of Chicken Broth
1 Cup of Chunky Style Salsa
1 Can of Black Beans Drained & Rinsed
1 Large Cooked Chicken Breast, Shredded

Mix all ingredients in your crock pot. Cook on low 6 to 8 hours.
Serve with crunched up tortilla chips and a smidge of cheddar cheese. If you are really daring, add a dollop of sour cream.

*** I like to double this recipe and freeze half ***

I have a funny story to go along with my soup this week. On Wednesday, when I got home from work, I turned the crock off to cool down. I decided to divide up the soup into containers. As I lifted the lid, the handle broke, and into the soup the screw to the handle plopped. Oy Vey! So I ladled the soup into bowls keeping an eye out for the screw.

I still have yet to find it.

Every day I heat up my soup, I listen for that tell tale sound of metal sparking in the microwave.

Every day, like at this moment, as I shovel spoon fulls of yummy goodness into my mouth I am feeling around for that dang screw.

Nope, still haven't found it.

Outside my window..it's a gloomy rainy day. The migrant workers are picking the cabbage in the field next to my work...by hand. I had no clue cabbage was picked by hand.  It does NOT look like fun.

The time is..8:17am

Today I feel..just there, existing.

I am thinking.. I can not believe tomorrow is October 1st, and that on Sunday the 3rd my babies will be 2 and 1/2 years old. My children have changed me in so many ways. Things that were important to me before children are no longer so important. Things I never even worried about or thought of before children manage to make their way into my mind and can consume my thoughts if I let them. My marriage has changed as well these last couple of years. I am terrified of the path that it is taking, but hopeful that with help, we can get back what we once had.

At the moment, I am thankful.. for the english muffin with peanut butter and raspberry jam (my favorite) that I just ate. So yummy in my tummy.

I am going..out of town for work a week from Sunday. I leave on a Sunday and come home on a Wednesday. I have never been away from my babies that long. The longest was an overnight trip, but I was gone less than 24 hours. I am looking forward to getting away, but I am going to miss my children so very much. I am also not looking forward to calling home while I'm away. I'm afraid of how my husband will be having to take care of the boys those days even though he will still be going to work (thank the Lord for my wonderful sister, I have said this before and I'll say it again, I don't know what I would do without her.)

I am wearing..gray slacks and a fuschia v-neck sweater.

I wish..I could just snap my fingers and everything would be ok.

I am reading..nothing at the moment, but I want to buy She... by Kobi Yamada.

I am working on..being responsible for my own happiness.

I am hoping..for flowers, puppy dogs, and white fluffy clouds.

I am hearing..the printer.

I bet you didn't know..that I am a smoker. I know, I know, awful, horrible, disgusting, dangerous, habit. The last two years, smoking is the one thing that has kept me sane. The funny thing is, I hate smokers. I hate people that stand outside a store and smoke for you to walk through their stench. I hate people that smell like they have been smoking a pack in their car with all of their windows sealed up tight. I have been avoiding posting this under the "I bet you didn't know" section of Just Thursdays for months now. But I need to put it out there. I need to put ME out there for once. I have recently been prescribed Chantix, which is a drug to help people quit smoking. I haven't starting taking it yet, I don't know what I'm waiting for. I think I'm afraid of failing. I'm afraid of the things someone near and dear to me is going to say while I'm on it. I'm afraid of what this person will say if I fail. Please Note: I DO NOT smoke near my children. Only when they are down for a nap or sleeping at night, or if we are somewhere where other adults can watch them and I can go hide.

One of my favorite..events of the fall season is this weekend. It's the Hilton Apple Fest. I lurve it with all of it's crafts, and food, and people watching, and food. The bonus is, it's directly across the street from my sister's house so I can park there, walk right across the street and shop, people watch, eat, shop some more, drop my wares off at my sisters, so I can resume shopping, oh and eat some more.

You guys are SO smart!!! You guessed it right yesterday after viewing my teaser post.

We went to this little Fall Festival the town I work for holds. They had all sorts of fun things for the kiddos to do, including painting their very own pumpkins. This was a hit with my boys. So much so, that when we got home I had to cut pumpkins out of construction paper for them to "paint". I'm not brave enough to pair paint with two two-year olds IN MY HOME just yet, so they painted with crayons :-)

I just adore my boys.

Outside my window.. just the fabulous dark hallway of the community center.

The time is.. 12:19pm

Today I feel.. sleepy. I stayed up WAY too late last night and on top of that I did not sleep well.

I am thinking.. about the new pillows we bought last weekend. I'm pretty sure they are the reason for my sleepless nights. I'm not a fan.

At the moment, I am thankful.. that it's lunch time. The craptastick part though, is that I already inhaled my yummy spinach and cheese stuffed rigatoni smothered in seasoning, olive oil, and chopped asparagus. I want more.

I am going.. to have a pear instead, since I don't have any more yummy goodness.

I am wearing.. black dress pants, a gray three quarter sleeved, v-neck sweater (my two favorites, three quarter length sleeves and v-necks), black ankle high healed boots, and jewels. Broke out one of my long necklaces today, I love long necklaces.

Gotti. I'm not getting too far in this book. I haven't picked it up in a few weeks.

I am working on.. the walking program at work. We got pedometers, and the goal is to collectively walk across America by November.

I am hoping.. there are left overs from tonight's Pizza Night. I am a fan of leftovers these days, because then I do not have to worry about what to pack for lunch.

I am hearing.. my coworker chat with another coworker about the going away happy hour after work. I'm bummed I can't make it...no sitter. The downfall of a husband who works nights. They are going to Chilango's, my new favorite local Mexican restaurant. Hubby and I went there last Friday for dinner....yummy yum yum. And their margaritas were phenomenal. The bartender had the Tequila bottle tipped and pouring for quite some time....oooh weeee!

Around the house.. it's a disaster. Over the holiday weekend I was a lazy bum, well kinda, I organized the toy room and the coat closet instead of dusting, vacuuming, and mopping. I'll have double the dirt to clean this weekend.

I bet you didn't know.. not sure, I've pretty much shared everything.

One of my favorite.. cooking utensils is my crock pot. I am always looking for new yummy recipes, so if you have any send them my way.

My weekend plans include.. I'm not really sure. Nothing set in stone. I wish it would include a night of karaoke with my sister like last weekend. Seriously one of the funnest and funniest nights I've ever had.

Working Mommy Wednesday ~ September 8, 2010

This weeks prompts are:

What do you consider necessary to get through the day? (items, routines, coffee, etc.)
What do you do on your commute to work - listen to the radio, enjoy peace and quiet, etc.

I have several things I deem necessary to make it through the day. The biggest one being my morning routine.I am a HUGE routine person.

I do the same exact thing, at the same exact time (give or take a minute or two), every single day. If something is done out of order it seriously throws off my morning and eventually my whole day.

OCD much?

When I wake in the morning, the first thing I do is check on the fellas and re-tuck them in. After that I head down to the kitchen, pack my lunch, start the coffee, and feed the animals.

From there I head up to the shower. The order in which I do things does not change, ever. Wash face, wash & condition hair, wash body, shave if need be. Once out, I dry off, tweese, moisturize face, put on deodorant, and then moisturize my body. At this time I put on my cozy clothes, put on makeup, blow-dry my hair, and brush my teeth. Once my body, face, and hair are ready for the day, I get dressed, add jewelry and perfume. I then check on the boys again, stare at them for a few minutes, blow them kisses, and off to work I go.

I am not kidding when I say this, the order above is the order it is done every single work day.

I'll completely understand if you stop following me after reading this. I know that I am weird and need some professional help.

Outside my window.. it's dark and muggy outside.

The time is.. 9:10pm Wednesday (I'm cheating and writing my post the night before)

Today I feel.. full and sleepy. Had Gnocci for lunch and I've been in a Gnocci Coma ever since.

I am thinking.. The weekend. It's hubby's birthday weekend. I am broke and have no clue what to do about that and his birthday gift or lack of one. I feel horrible...he bought me a convertable for our anniversary and I don't even have the funds to buy him a cheap gift.

At the moment, I am thankful.. that it's almost time to go to bed. I've been extra tired lately.

I am going.. to bed soon.

I am wearing.. knee length shorts and a tank top. It's been super hot this week. I HATE shorts as I HATE my legs, but becuase of the temperature I really don't have a choice.

I wish.. I could buy my husband a Netbook for his birthday. He has been ogling over them for a few weeks now.

I am hearing.. the boys chatting & playing in their cribs when they should be sleeping and HGTV. There's nothing good on tonight and no shows recorded on my DVR list. Makes for a boring night.

Around the house.. it's clean. I'm looking at our old smelly dog asleep on the floor at my feet.

I bet you didn't know.. that I am still carrying around 30lbs. of pregnancy weight. The boys are almost 2.5 years old so I really can't blame it on them anymore. I know I need to exercise and eat healthy. I have the healthy part down somewhat, it's the exercise I just can't get motivated to do. Oh, and eating those new Cheeseburger Combos a bit ago isn't helping matters much. Have y'all tried those things? Y-U-M-M-Y!

One of my favorite.. beverages is Diet Dr. Pepper. I could drink this stuff all.day.long. I finally put an end to buying soda for the house because that was all I would drink. So unhealthy.

My weekend plans include.. going out to dinner with the hubs Friday for his birthday. Saturday the weather is supposed to be horrible, dropping into the 60's and rain, so I'm going to make sauce and let it simmer all day, perfect yucky weather food. Sunday we are going to a Clam Bake with friends. These are our friends that have children so I'm looking forward to hanging out with other moms who know how it is. I'm sure us moms won't have a chance to talk as we'll be chasing our children while the husbands get to hang out, have guy talk, and not notice what their kids are doing. Monday we have nothing planned, we are contemplating taking the kids to the beach.

P.S. It has taken me an hour to write this simple post as my children are boycotting bed time and keep throwing things out of their cribs, needing their binkies, needing their blankets, needing their lambies and monkeys, and on and on and on. I am listening to Marcus whine right now and wonder if I should just ignore him until he falls asleep or if he really needs me. Ok, he's quiet now, please pray it lasts.

Nope, he's whining again.

Nope, there he goes.

Ok, now he's quiet but he's playing with Scout. That's ok, as long as he's not whining.

Working Mommy Wednesday ~ September 1, 2010

It's been quite some time since I've written a Working Mommy Wednesday post, but one of the prompts for this week was an easy one for me so I thought I'd join in the fun.

Being a busy full time working mom, there are many days I am at a loss as to what to make for dinner. I have become a fan of using my crock-pot to make quick, tasty meals that are ready by the time I get home from work.

Now that fall is right around the corner, I've been in the mood for some yummy comfort food.

One of my favorite recipes is Crock Pot Mac-N-Cheese. Here is the recipe:

2 cups cooked elbow macaroni
1/2 stick melted butter
1 12oz. can evaporated milk
1 1/2 cup milk
10oz. mild shredded cheddar cheese
10oz. sharp shredded cheddar cheese
2 eggs beaten (I use egg beaters as I'm allergic to eggs and can't tell the difference)
1 tsp. salt
pepper to taste

Throw all of the above ingrediants in your Pam sprayed crock pot, mix 'em up, and cook on low for 3 - 4 hours.

Now you have delicious home made mac-n-cheese. I like to double this recipe so we have a lot of leftovers. I have no clue the fat and calories, but I really don't think I want to know :-)
