Tiny Slips of Paper

It's New Year's Eve.
The last day of twenty-twelve.
The day before the first day of twenty-thirteen.

What are you looking forward to?  What are you looking forward to leaving behind?

I read something today in Sarah Ban Breathnach's book Simple Abundance:

"Before we can welcome in the New Year, we need to put the Old Year's unfinished business - mistakes, regrets, shortcomings, and disappointments - behind us."

Ms. Ban Breathnach then encourages us to write down on slips of paper all the things we'd like to forget, place them in a cardboard box wrapped in dark paper, "sealing in the sorrow and hard luck" and throw them away or place in the fireplace to "burn away the past" as a way to say Sayonara.  Banish the past and bad memories, keep only the good.

What will you write on your slips of paper?
