It's time for another installment of Working Mommy Wednesday. Julia over at Work, Wife, Mom... Life! and Lisa over at This Mommy Works want to know:
How do the chores and duties work in your family?
Well ladies, you will probably be afraid that you asked this question. You see, chores are pretty much all of my responsibility. Not that I want them to be, but for some reason they are - and no one has volunteered to help. I am however, currently teaching my children how to clean up after themselves.
My chores & duties:
- Dust
- Mop
- Vacuum
- Clean bathrooms (mine/boy's & the powder room)
- Change sheets
- Do laundry
- Fold laundry
- Put away laundry
- Fill dishwasher
- Empty dishwasher
- Grocery shop
- Bathe children
- Empty garbage
- Take garbage out on garbage day
- Weed garden
- Plant garden, dirt, mulch, etc.
- Poop scoop the backyard
- Feed & water the cat and dog
- Any other miscellaneous cleaning (closets, cupboards, refrigerator, windows, etc.)
His Chores & Duties:
- Mow the lawn
- Clean bathroom (his)
- Vehicle maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations, any repairs THANKFULLY!)
Marcus & Maddox's Chores & Duties:
- Clean up toys (we're working on this one)
- Be cute, and silly, and loving
There you have it. And as you know I work/commute 45+ hours away from the home, and my husband and I work separate shifts. Now you know why some weeks I am just too darn tired to blog.
goodness gracious woman!!! do you ever do anything for yourself???
ReplyDeletebut you are an AWESOME mom!!!!!!! way to be awesome!
wowza! You need a NANNY!! :)
ReplyDeleteWOW! It's exhausting I'm sure! I hopped over from WMW! I can't imagine, I'm working at home most days and it's hard! It's good you are starting to enlist help from the kids.
ReplyDeleteAnd people wonder why we working mama's never sit down! You're a rockstar mama for keeping it all together in your house.
ReplyDeleteI need to work on getting my kiddos to help pick-up... thanks for that tip. And thanks for participating in this week's meme!
I got a cleaning service. My husband still doesn't want it or supports it but hey, I work. The last thing I want to do is clean during my daughter's nap times on the weekend. And cleaning while she's awake? No way. My husband does the lawn care, I garden. I do 80% of the laundry but he usually empties the dishwasher. We both grocery shop or trade off. I do ALL the errands but it gives me an excuse to get out of the house on the weekends with my daughter. I do feel like I have free time, especially in the evenings, so I guess it works well!
ReplyDeleteI certainly hope you mean that you commute 45+ MINUTES and not HOURS to and from work. ;)
ReplyDeleteGirl, you have got to sit with you hubby and split this list! I had to do that with my hubby when I was working and even though I am not now he still does his half of the list! You can't carry it by yourself forever. Perhaps that is why you are in a funk!!! Hope it gets better soon.
ReplyDeleteOh my! What a long list you've got there. I definitely agree that that is something worth talking to hubby about. Maybe once he sees it in print- how long yours is and how short his is- he'll get it.
