I am in a serious funk.

Tired, worn down, unmotivated funk.

Every night I go to bed thinking, "Tomorrow is the day.  The day I exercise, drink my water, strive for five, and begin my journey to making me better."

Then I wake up.

After a night of waking every few hours.  With many things going through my head which make it difficult for me to fall back to sleep.

The monotony of my day begins at 5:30 am.  Wake up, shower, drive to work, work for "the man", plan on eating a healthy lunch and snacks, end up eating garbage, drive home, make dinner, play with the boys (the ONLY highlight of my day), put boys to bed, clean up from the day, laundry, maybe watch a bit of TV, and go to bed, only to wake up and do it all over again the next day.

Can we say Ground Hog Day?  That's what I feel like I am living every.single.day.

I know I am in charge of my own happiness.  It's the lack of motivation these days in obtaining it.

I know that if I make the changes now, it will make me a better person, a better mother, happier, healthier and skinnier.

I also know that as soon as I hit "Publish Post" I'll probably feel better and regret I even posted this. But that's okay.  This is my blog and I can whine if I want to.

  1. Your warning message is too cute...love it [may have to steal it sometime!]

I hate these funks...I think we all go through them. I especially seem this way when the weather stinks. I hope you feel better soon! Don't forget...ONLY ONE MORE DAY UNTIL THE WEEKEND! :)

  2. I'll get funk-y with you! ;) I'm still trying to find my motivation and healthy eating habits, too. I found them for a little while, but they were lost again. If you see them would you please send them home?

  3. I am soo with ya on the Funk! If your weather has been like here in Ohio...up and down...that doesn't help matters. Seems like when we really hit summer hard with sunshine and longer days that helps tremendously.

  5. Aw... I'm sorry you're in a funk. We all go through them. I know I do.

I just wanted to say that I stumbled across your blog via AZMomma. Your hair in your profile pic is super cute!

Anyway, I hope your weekend gets better.

  6. Man, I feel that way at times too. Everything gets monotonous. You are doing a great job! Blogging has been a highlight in my day, that is for sure. :) Hope you feel better soon!

  7. Try taking a healthy snack to work with you - then no excuses for at least one snack. It'll make you feel better about yourself. I could share in the funky sandwich - stuff at my job is beyond out of control - so I try to keep a reign on the stuff I can (snacks, drinks).

Enjoy your time with the wee Bears!

  9. This post sounded like me from Jan - March! I was funkrific. What helped me was to find something new that gave me some fun - something out of the ordinary - it wasn't big, but it helped turn me around. Also, just pick one of the things that you want to do on the list (exercise or eat right, etc...) and do it once. You'll immediately feel better.

And, be sure to check back in with me in Jan - March next year because I'm going to need you to rehash what I just said to you for myself!

    Hope you're feeling better.

  11. I hope you are having some better days now that a week has gone by. I get into "funks" too- especially over weight! I totally hear you. I hope your first meeting today will get you on the road to feeling better. Thanks for your comment today. Ava seems to be doing good but feverish most of the day. Totally active though. Does anything slow down a toddler? Take care!

    Hi, Erin.
i stumbled upon your blog-- totally LOVE your honesty and willingness to be vulnerable. We probably all feel like this at different times but just hate to admit it.

For me, I get purpose and motivation from God. Four years ago I was diagnosed with a crippling chronic illness. I was in BAD shape: in/out wheelchairs, house bound, bed bound at times. This past year, God has granted me a remission in my illness so I can walk more and enjoy life again. I feel like I have been given a burst of energy. I dont know how long Ill be able to enjoy the remission so Im really motivated to do as much as I can.

I will pray (really, I will) that God will give you a renewed sense of purpose and calling.

    Have a great day!

  13. You have my sympathy! I feel like I'm living the same part of my life (over and over and over) again, and it's all part of the "rat race"... I feel like I'm not doing anything for myself! DH & I have started laying the groundwork for some big changes... I'm not sure if they'll ever pan out, but just having it to think about (daydream about) is making a HUGE difference!

  14. oh sweetheart, i'm so sorry you're feeling this way. you are NOT alone. we all have those days and it's not easy. make it a priority!! next time you go to shove a cookie in your face, stop and think, "how will i feel after i eat this." it's a temporary fix to a bigger problem.
    this too shall pass.

email me if you need to talk!!
